Begin with a thorough self-assessment, identifying both your strengths and weaknesses, and evaluate your leadership style while pinpointing areas for improvement. You are your best judge.
2. Education:?Consider executive education programs (MBA, leadership courses). Stay updated on industry trends through relevant certifications.
3. Leadership Development: Attend leadership workshops or seminars.?Leadership development is a continuous effort; attending workshops or seminars and seeking feedback from peers and superiors cannot be postponed to the appraisal day.
4. Strategic Vision:?Ask yourself, if you have developed a clear, compelling vision for your company's future.
5. Communication Skills & Thought Leadership:?Engage in public speaking or atleast start writing on LinkedIn regularly. Practice conveying complex ideas concisely and persuasively.
6. Networking:?An old saying states that your network is your net worth. Please note that you also need to network within the company.?

7. Team Building & Office Politics:?Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture. Develop and mentor high-potential employees. Address conflicts promptly and impartially. If not done earlier, please start building relationships across departments.
8. Succession Planning for the CFO Role:??Please ask yourself if you have identified and groomed a potential successor for the CFO role. This demonstrates your commitment to the company's long-term success.
9. Board Engagement: Now, this is the most essential part.?Start seeking opportunities to interact with the board and showcase that you are a strategic thinker and possess financial acumen. You should be able to showcase your ability to navigate and mitigate risks effectively.
