You are your brand. No matter if you own your company or you work for a company. The characteristics and habits that you carry around become who you are.
Social media is changing the way we communicate and the way we are perceived, both positively and negatively. Every time you post a photo, or update your status, you are contributing to your own digital footprint and personal brand. -Amy Jo Martin
It is so important today more than ever to brand your LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter the way that it represents who you or your company is.
Reason #1: Even if you work for another company, take the time to create your own separate brand and social media handle for you! I have different Facebook company pages I keep separate from my personal page. When I manage my clients' social media, we always create them as separate entities also.
Reason #2: One day becomes two and two becomes four and four becomes eight and before you know it 365 days will have passed. Imagine if you posted even just three posts a week, that's 156 posts you could have added to your social media calendar for just one year. If you don't have time to do it: hire someone to help you who has experience. Maintain consistency and branding.
In Color Your Messsage: The Art of Digital Marketing and Social Media I have an article called "Never Run Out of Messages - 27 Social Media Ideas." Have a theme weekly such as Motivation Wednesday with a favorite quote or Inspiration. Talk about, retweet, or repost people who inspire you.
Reason #3: Social media growth promotes your social brand and it's equivalent to social currency when you are getting edified, promoted or looked at. I recently started putting time into my own Instagram @LisaCaprelli brand because I am launching a series of books in 2017 and I have already met people from around the world from a hashtag! I have been invited to speak at conferences with Instagram and thinking outside the box to meet people. 36% of millennials are in the workforce today and by 2025 that number is expected to grow to 75%! Instagram is not just for young people anymore. It is a modern day communication and it works!
Does the above work for you? Would you like to be trained in social media? What are you challenged by? I want to hear from you!
Cheers!
