Are You the CEO, or are you just doing all the work?

In “The Bear”? there’s an episode where Carmy is trying to pull off a big catering job, and things spiral out of control fast. No one’s on the same page, and the stress hits a boiling point. Everyone’s scrambling, and Carmy—despite being a brilliant chef—can’t hold it together because the team isn’t working as a unit. It’s a perfect example of what happens when you’re doing too much yourself and not delegating properly.

One of my clients, a CEO running a mastermind for other executives, was in a similar spot.

He was brilliant at what he did but was getting sucked into the nitty-gritty details, just like Carmy trying to manage every station during that disastrous catering event. He was running his mastermind, but also juggling every tiny logistical task. The result? Burnout, frustration, and a group that wasn’t reaching its full potential.

The breakthrough came when he stopped trying to be everywhere at once and focused on creating a strong support system. He hired help, delegated tasks, and created processes that allowed the mastermind to run smoothly without? constantly being?in the thick of it. Just like Carmy needed his team to step up, he needed his team to elevate the experience.

Now, his mastermind group is thriving, and he’s back to being the visionary leader her business needs.

So, are you running your business like the CEO you are, or are you still stuck doing it all yourself? Step back, trust your team, and focus on leading—not managing every detail.

Love & Light,

Susan
