If you can't trust yourself, believe in what you can do.

To build upon our previous discussions about building trust before making deals and the pivotal role of self-trust, our focus this week centers on how to cultivate trust within yourself.

Trusting yourself might initially seem like a straightforward concept—who wouldn't trust themselves? Yet, upon reflection, it becomes apparent that unconditional self-trust isn't as simple as it appears. Think of this: How often have you questioned your abilities, revised your goals due to uncertainty, or doubted praise received for a job well done (hello imposter syndrome)?

Indeed, trusting oneself is a nuanced journey. The more questions you pose, the more doubts may arise. Take a moment to ponder: Why should you trust yourself unequivocally through everything? What earns you that trust?

If a clear answer eludes you, read on. If you're among the fortunate few with a ready response, drop me a message—I'd love to compare notes.

I grapple with self-doubt, a symptom that accompanies my journey with Asperger's. In fact, moments before picking up my pen to write a draft for this article, I questioned if I could muster the focus to get it done today. This week, laden with financial pitfalls and overshadowed by a looming family crisis, it crossed my mind—perhaps I could use a break. After all, with a small readership and no monetary gains, does it truly matter? Maybe a day off would replenish my energy.? Why not pause to regain some energy?? Come on, it would be nice, take it easy, just go on my phone and scroll on social media…

"I started questioning myself—my motivation, my future, my discipline—and then it hit me. Discipline. That’s what I pride myself in. The process of building trust with oneself is not a philosophical question but a practical one. Every fiber of my being, forged by the actions I carve into myself every day, is what makes me. Doubts, uncertainty, acknowledgment, all dispelled in front of actual, real-life actions. My discipline is what makes me act.

Think of it this way, if I take a break this week, what awaits me next week? If I let slacking off take a first, who is to say there isn’t a second, third, and habitual breaks whenever I face hardship?

Yes, I may be the most vulnerable at this moment of my life, but – it’s the hottest fires that that forges the strongest steel.? And whether I am writing well or writing back, my discipline is the flames that keeps me going.? If I can’t believe in myself, then I must believe in my discipline that have guided me throughout my life.? I am shaped by how I discipline myself.? It is not who I am that can believe in; it's what I have done that I believe in.

Believe in your discipline, which comes from within yourself! Join us next week for our season finale before we return to our monthly financial tips and tricks bulletin, "Believe in yourself, who will make yourself!"
