You Can't be Successful if You are Too Fragile

It isn't easy to be successful. To make dramatic changes in your life, you have to change a lot and it can cause a great deal of discomfort. For most people, they are too fragile, mentally, to deal with the discomfort. We want to retreat into our comfort areas.

It is comforting to watch your favourite movie, sitting on your couch eating your snacks, but you shouldn't fall into this trap.

You need to ask yourself some questions to see if you are strong enough right now to be able to move toward success.

Can you make decisions? You may say that you are because you make choices between two different things for lunch. These are not the decisions that are being talked about. The decisions are big career, personal relationships and things for your small business. They are also results to your investments, lifestyle or your long-term goals. These all require you to make decisions and stay with them for a long time.

  • You are going nowhere if you can't make decisions. You can struggle to make up your mind when you are not successful. You do nothing because you don't want to make a mistake. You need to decide and be brave enough to risk that you will make a mistake.

Can you deal with adversity? If you want to accomplish anything that is significant, you will encounter adversity. Most of the world doesn't care, and they won't help you. You may also have people that will get in your way. Do you have the strength to deal with adversity?

  • Another type of adversity is failure. Do you quit when you fail or do you work through it? A key to success is overcoming failure. It is very unlikely that you will be successful without experiencing failure.

How do you deal with criticism? There are many people in your life who will always try to hold you back. This helps them to feel a lot better about themselves. They can ask about your health when you lose weight or tell you will just waste your money when you make it.

  • You will be average when you listen to average people
  • Use constructive criticism, and ignore the rest, it is harmful to your success.

How persistent are you? There are some things that can take a long time to accomplish. Things like saving a lot of money or losing a lot of weight. Fragile people are not persistent. Are you strong and tough enough to persist?

Is your perception of yourself fixed? Is your perception now that you are always going to be financially challenged or always overweight? Do you have the strength to change your perception of yourself to being wealthy or fit? You can change your self perception but it is uncomfortable.

Can you be flexible? If the situation changes can you change course or do you stay with what you know? How much can you change before you start to fall apart? Starting from scratch, isn't easy.

How confident can you be when you make mistakes? If you have made some mistakes can you still have confidence in yourself? How much unshakable trust do you have in yourself? Successful people have rock solid self-confidence.

Discomfort is part of success, are you too fragile to succeed? Your competition is limited because of this discomfort. Are you tough enough to be successful? When you learn how to handle your uncomfortable feelings, your success will take off.
