Naughty step for Dave.
I missed one last week. And this one is late.
There's a lot on. It's not an excuse—it's just reality. You may not have even noticed. Hopefully, you might ??
Change is a funny old thing, whether big or small, personal or professional. Some embrace it and actively seek it out. Some, though, resist for whatever reason.
I suppose it's a bit like the old saying about those who are prepared to run into a burning building and those who run away from it.
With anything in business, particularly, it all boils down to first principles and answering the exam question. What are you trying to solve and why?
The who, how and when then follows later.
There are many reasons people choose to run from the proverbial burning building. It could be down to the fear of the unknown or too many unknowns. Perhaps the risk is too uncomfortably high. Or maybe feeling threatened by someone who embraces the new. There are even those who prefer to overcomplicate as it suits their narrative.
I have found that outputs remain the same over the years, and growth stagnates. Doing nothing encourages overthinking, doing everything by committee, and backseat driving, leading to indecision.
There is no right or wrong answer to all this. We are all built differently; otherwise, life would be pretty boring, wouldn't it?
That said, just because something has always been done a certain way doesn't make it right, does it?
For me, the important thing is to try, at least. What's the worst that can happen?
I suppose it's a bit like when I started this blog. 12 editions ago now ??
I had no idea the interest, engagement, or even if there would be a single subscriber. It could fall completely flat. It could cause a wave of criticism. It could provoke ridicule. Maybe it has, but I don't see it.
Doing one meant committing time and effort. It meant putting myself out there. Publicly. Scary Spice.
Returning to that exam question, I wondered how to encourage and increase engagement and transparency.
I am nowhere near the number of subscribers that some have, but I appreciate every single one of you, and it was definitely worth taking that first step. ??
Without going all Bartlett on you, no sponsors were harmed in making this blog; remembering where it all started and how far you have come is always worthwhile. Isn't it?
Note to self: keep moving forward. Have a great weekend, everyone. Hopefully, the sun will last. ?? ??
