You Can't Get It Wrong, Success Is Inevitable

I used to hate hearing the word 'depression'.

I used to think that when someone admitted they were depressed, they either wanted attention, didn’t understand themselves, or were using it as an excuse to avoid doing what they needed to do. Even when I felt low, I despised it when my close friends would say, “Oh, Ciara, you’re just depressed. Everyone goes through it.” AHHHH—I hated hearing that. Why? Because I am a beam of light. I’m the one who has all the answers—or at least can find them. I’m the strong, independent woman. The entrepreneur since age 12. The creator of my own reality. ????

So, for someone to tell me I was depressed, it felt like they were calling me weak, incapable, unfit, and, worst of all… not in control. ??

But as I’ve grown—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and even professionally—I’ve come to a realization. A profound and life-changing one. I realized that we are energy more than we are humans. (Stay with me here—I’m not trying to take you on a spiritual journey, but just hear me out!)

Energy transforms—it never goes away. It can never be two things at once. And just like everything else in this world, we are constantly in transition. Every millisecond of our lives, we are changing, even in ways imperceptible to the natural eye.

Take a plant, for example. You don’t see its growth minute by minute, but every little detail, every subtle transformation, is happening nonetheless. Like that plant—or like all energy—we are not constant.

Now, consider the moon (something I look at nearly every day with intent). You will never see the exact same moon twice. Each day, it shows up differently, with its unique imperfections and beauty, its changing craters, and its evolving energy. And yet, it always shows up. Every day, it’s there—offering a new perspective to the world.

Like the moon, we are ever-changing.

One moment, we can feel alive and unstoppable, ready to conquer the world. The next, we can feel stuck—unable to move physically, mentally, or professionally. We might feel like the weight of the world is crushing us, leaving us in a pit to wither and fade. What’s interesting about this feeling is that even in the presence of something beautiful—something to be grateful for—we might struggle to accept its very existence.

But there is one undeniable truth: we are always transitioning.

Like the moon, some moments we shine brightly, so radiant that others can’t help but notice our light. Other times, we dim—our shimmer barely visible to the world and even ourselves. Yet even in those moments, our light remains within us. Whether we see it, or others recognize it, doesn’t matter. That light never disappears while we are living and breathing.

As we navigate the unknowns in our businesses—working with clients, customers, employees, vendors, partners, and stakeholders—let us remember this: we are always in transition. We cannot blame ourselves or others when the energy that once burned brightly begins to fade. Nor should we chastise ourselves when strategies that worked before suddenly fall short. They’re not meant to work the same way because we are no longer the same nor are the conditions that came into place during that 'victory'.

Each moment calls us to start anew because in each moment, we are evolving. And because of this, we can never truly get it wrong, and our beautiful transitions will never truly be done. So as you venture into this day wondering HOW you will meet this deadline, WHEN the client contract will be signed and WHY things aren't flowing the way you expected, remember to embrace the transition. Find that light within, even if it's faded. Stop deflecting your dissatsfaction of self onto others. Appreciate the depression or in better words the shifting of your energy and know that the next moment will be different because success is inevitable.
