You Can Only Change Reality with Reality

In other words, trying to solve a problem in your brain will never work. Talking to your friends over and over again about your problems rarely works.
But we still do it.
We mull over big and small decisions, looking at the pros and cons, waiting until it feels just right or until we somehow “know” what the best thing to do is.
Nuerodiveregents may even suffer from analysis paralysis more than the average bear—at least that has been my experience over the years.
A case study
Years ago, I had a client with ADHD that had big dreams of creating her next career—she wanted to hit the ground running but 3 months after leaving the best job of her life, she hadn’t moved an inch.
It took a little time, but she was eventually able to identify three broad possibilities of what her next chapter would look like—and then a little more work to define one or two specific options within those areas. After a few weeks, we had five concrete things she could try—and the truth was, we had no idea which one of the five we should choose, or even if any of the options would end up working.
So we tried them all.
We actually put a plan in place to take one simple action a week to move each of the items forward… trusting that her next chapter would reveal itself. It did. The very act of announcing to herself and her network what she was doing, invited the community to help her move things forward and more and more possibilities revealed themselves.
I’m happy to report that 5 years later, she is doing a career she loves and it looks totally different than anything we made up during those six months working together—and that’s the way it usually goes. The actions she took led to realizations, more actions, and more realizations—which eventually created her current career. She would still be on the sidelines today wondering about that “perfect” thing if we hadn’t created a plan and implemented it.
Ask me about my journey to creating a business that is also my dream job. My story is pretty much the same as most, it’s consistent action—not a perfect idea—that leads to success.
What is the one action you can take to move your dream forward? What’s stopping you?
Go.
Tell me how it goes.
