You can leave Geektime but it will never leave you

Hi all

On March 2009, Geektime (formerly known as Newsgeek) was launched by Yaniv Feldman. A few weeks later, I joined this amazing and crazy journey of a the first real Israeli tech media outlet with one mission - to support the Israeli tech, startups and VC ecosystem.

But from day one, we weren’t only media, we were a part of the struggle of every Israeli startup. From founding a new venture, through funding negotiations, until the sad closing or happy exit.

As an example, in 2011, the same team, with the amazing support of our first investor, Mr. David Moche, launched the first startup accelerator in Israel, investing in 5 new startups. This led to an exploding scene of hundreds of new accelerators in Israel, and we are proud that we were able to set the first example for everyone.

Geektime soon became the center for education and information of every CEO, CTO, lots of crazy geeks, developers and many more with our unique content. Online, and offline in our events that led a new kind of added value content (Geektime code, Geektime conference, Geekawards, our 101 series of events and more).

Years passed and we've launched the first accelerators guide website, the first employer branding platform and many more products - some succeeded, some failed and were shut down. But one thing always led us in what we do - We worked together, listening to the community, doing things no one else does.

And now, 11 years later, I felt that the company needed a change, a new spirit to go with, a new direction.

I felt that the time has come to give the keys to a successor - Rami Vachner is my friend, came with an extensive experience in large enterprises, managing budgets, people and on the last few months has accepted the challenge of becoming a CEO after 4 years in the most crazy, rule-breaking-venture, beloved, Geektime.

At this point I want to thank Rami for his continues support in the rough days, his amazing spirit in the good days and I’m sure that he will be the one that will take Geektime to the next international step towards success, along with our lead investor Philippe Bouaziz, and Franck Cohen, who recently joined our board of directors.

I want to take the opportunity and not only thank, but encourage all of you to continue your amazing support in the only objective home of the startup and tech ecosystem.

What’s next for me? I will be exploring the startup and investment ecosystem for a new exciting, position where I will be able to utilize my vast tech, investing and management knowledge and experience.

Love you all, Peace out - Moran.

Thank you Moran! For your vision, your depth, your persistance and your powerful voice. Excited to see what you're cooking for the next phase ????
