Be That Girl?is a Swiss-based foundation that aims to help girls and women from disadvantaged backgrounds fulfil their potential.

By partnering with impactful NGOs in several countries, mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa, the foundation helps young women complete their education, acquire life and business skills and have access to mentors and role models to help them realise their dreams.

One of these partnerships is with?Generation Rise, a Rwandan-based?community organisation empowering girls and young women in Rwanda with life skills and mentoring to confront challenges, succeed in their education and realise their ambitions.?

In 2023, Be That Girl and Generation Rise launched a?scholarship programme?to provide?selected young women?from low-income backgrounds?with a holistic package of support that includes financial aid to?complete university studies?and mentoring and?life skills training over the?four-year?tertiary study cycle.

The goal is to maximise their chances of succeeding at university and then in the job market and access leadership positions in the future.

Among the skills included in the mentoring, the girls learn how to mobilize for collective action, becoming advocates for structural change on inclusive education in their communities and beyond.

Communication is a key skill to compete in the job market, and this is where?The Story Spotters?come in.

For every verified review they receive in week one of the launch of their book, David and Sarah Jane will donate an hour of?online?coaching?on effective communication to the Be That Girl university scholars in Rwanda, helping them succeed in exams, job interviews and advocacy.
