You CAN Compete With Heavily Funded Competitors
Sramana Mitra
Founder and CEO of One Million by the One Million (1Mby1M) Global Virtual Accelerator
During this week’s roundtable, we had as our guest Mark Organ, Founder and CEO of Influitive, also, founder of Eloqua. Mark candidly discussed his evolution as an entrepreneur and what he has done to keep learning things that he wasn’t good at. He also emphasized how he won with Eloqua against heavily funded competitors who simply couldn’t survive when funding dried up.
Well, funding is going to be much less abundant going forward. The leaner, disciplined players will survive, the flabby, high-burn ones will fold.
You can listen to the recording of this roundtable here:
3 Curious Monkeys
As for the pitches, first up, Shuchi Mehta and Shweta Chopra from San Carlos, California, pitched 3 Curious Monkeys, a publishing company focused on producing media products focused on 3-7 year children of the Indian diaspora to help them learn the Indian culture. Shuchi and Shweta have had some success with a book focused on Diwali already, and have generated $100,000 in revenue.
Odesso
Next, Zee Rizvi from Los Angeles, California, pitched Odesso, a platform for building mobile apps for small businesses. The market has many direct competitors, and Zee needs to do a deep dive on them to understand the dynamics of his space better.
Artzzin
Then Samit Ghosh from Kolkata, India, pitched Artzzin, a book printing service for wedding photographers to create one-off collectible books for their clients. Samit needs to partner with a printing house to get this business validated and see if the unit economics are workable.
Wash My Whip
Last up, Nathan Bekerman from Miami, Florida, pitching Wash My Whip showed us a car wash app that will have people come to consumers’ homes and wash their cars. Good concept, needs to go through the validation exercise next and become a business, rather than a concept.
As always, I would very much like to hear about your business, so let me invite you to come and pitch at one of our free 1M/1M public roundtables. We will be holding future roundtables at 8 a.m. PDT on:
