You Can Change The World

You Can Change The World

“Everyone thinks to change the world. But nobody thinks to change themselves!”— Leo Tolstoy

?“We can change the world, rearrange the world. It’s dying to get better!”— Graham Nash, Chicago

?

Examine Your Habits... of Thought, of Word, of Deed because all meaningful change starts right at the center of the individual.

The magic is not out there. It’s in here!

And it’s in here where you’d never think to look. Your habits — of thought, of speech, of action. For many (if not most) human beings, their unexamined habits camouflage a truckful of damaging and self-defeating perspectives and behaviors.

Ever been remorselessly and “justifiably” critical of everyone else on the freeway during your commute? Every day? Going and coming? Imagine, all those commuters, all detesting everyone else on the road, all jousting, all cooking in their collective juice. And all considering that everyone else is somehow less-than-human and deserving of annihilation... If we’re all like that; like you; what?

We’re of the opinion that change (cognitions, new moments of awareness), begins at home. It’s our all-too-human tendency to habitually and unconsciously harbor hostile ideas, negative considerations and levels of criticality which ultimately bring about our own downfall.

Consider: What if nobody else does it to us? What if We do it to ourselves?

Try that on as a working hypothesis, and take a look inside... Is there any criticality in there? Any long-held upsets, treasured since childhood? Sure, we keep our wins close to our breast, but isn’t there an ancient loss that still seems unjustified — and a miscreant somewhere out there in the world — who hasn’t yet paid the price for leaving our desire for revenge unfulfilled?

How much space is taken up in your mind, keeping those ancient upsets on the shelf? What degree of free energy might you bring to bear on life-in-this-moment if you unloaded all that pent-up history? All the fears, all the “must proves,” all the reasons you treasure for not getting up and changing your existence.

Here’s a final consideration: What if all that criticism, doubt, fear, internal holding-on to an upset — all of it, was with great subtlety, still energized and radiating its own world view — even though you’ve pushed it onto the back shelf? ?Wow... Nobody knows what you harbor in your inner spaces. But what if everything you’ve left unresolved is still in there — thinking... and still influencing the flavor of your daily life.

So clean house and catch yourself — on the freeway perhaps. If you’re not sending out good vibrations? What are you sending?

We can Change the World. Starting right here.

Does this work?

Applications

1.? For You

Take a look. Do you find yourself flipping in and out of the present as you reference your considerations about how today’s circumstances fit with your pre-conceived notions of “how things are?” Does it help? The Freeway, the lunch counter, the security check in...

2.? For the Family

Have you unconsciously ascribed certain features to your partner, your kids, your siblings? Do you check your memories to find out “How Uncle Don is about women...” before giving him room to meet the attractive new neighbor? What if you and the rest of the family leave their preconceptions at home?

3.? The Office

Is there a person nobody likes? Is there good reason? Can you change that by starting a fresh file and leaving the old stuff out of the daily interchange?

?

We can change the world. We suggest that daily life is an endless process of re-creation-in-every-second. It’s dying (and being re-born) to get better!
