Are You In Business For Real?, Issue #12

Are You In Business For Real?, Issue #12

One of the best things about being a VA is the dress code – or, more accurately, the lack of one. For example, as I type this I am in my sweats and slippers and will not be showering until I exercise later in the day!

But, that doesn’t mean my business, from top to bottom, doesn’t need to look and feel professional at every turn.

You work virtually, I get it. And so you probably work with lots of people who have never met you in person.

Because of that, it’s especially important that you take care of the details which show people that you are a professional with whom they can entrust their business. You need to be in business “for real.”

Here are some things others will use to make that determination:

You have a professional-sounding voicemail message.?It’s in a nice, friendly voice stating your name and asking the caller to leave you a message. You check your voicemail and return calls promptly.

Your email address uses the same URL as your website.?For example, my website address is?[email protected], not something like?[email protected].

You have a professional email signature.?Something that includes your name, phone number, and website address.

Your LinkedIn profile is complete.?It’s clear and has a professional headshot. Repeat – professional headshot.

Your website is well organized.?The services you provide are clearly written and easy to understand.

You speak confidently about your pricing.?You know how much you charge for your services and can explain it clearly.

There are more, but knock these six out and you’ll be well on your way to a business people will take seriously!
