Are You A Boss Or Not? ????

“Every organization must have a boss. Even if it’s just you by yourself, you must be the boss of yourself.” - Malcolm X

I talk to many entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. Often, their main reason for wanting to have their own business is to not be under someone else’s thumb.?

“I don’t want anyone telling me what to do.”

“I’m tired of dealing with these coworkers and office politics.”?

“I just want something that’s all mine, that I control.”?

These are all worthy ideals.?

One great thing about entrepreneurship is that you don’t need to justify your reasons to anyone. As long as you can make it work, you win.?

However, this idea of not having a boss is a fallacy.?

When you become an entrepreneur, YOU are the boss.?

Let’s note a few things a boss does. Check yourself for these –?

1) Demand that things get done, on time, and correctly.?

2) Hold everyone accountable for their responsibilities.?

3) Levy punishment (or the threat of punishment) for non-compliance.?

4) Establish or enforce standards, parameters and benchmarks so everyone knows what’s expected of them.?

5) Set an example — which provides the leverage to be in charge.?

6) Delegate the right work to the right people. No wise boss does everything on their own.?

7) Process, process, PROCESS. Know what needs to be done, when, by whom, and how.?

8) Invest in your team. Your staff should be getting better over time from working with you. This applies to you as the boss as well: You should be consistently getting better.?

If you’re NOT doing these things, congratulations – you indeed don’t have a boss. Your goal has been achieved.

Problem: Without a boss, your business is either already failing, or headed towards failure. Because organizations without proper leadership ALWAYS fail. No exceptions.?

If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, you MUST become a competent BOSS and cheek all eight above boxes. There is no way around this.?

Join Work On Your Game University so you can learn how to set your standards, create a structure around those standards, and employ a process that produces discipline – which leads to confidence – which leads to performance – which leads to results.?

We are in a results-based business. Bosses who fail to produce results get replaced.?
