Are You On Board?

Are You On Board?

5-10-now 15 years later. The tragedy is long over but the healing continues. Cities across the nation and around the world have created their own permanent memorials that honor and remember the fallen of September 11th, 2001. Each year people flock to these memorials to pay their respects and attend the various memorial services. Why wouldn't they? It's our promise to NEVER FORGET; the words taken from a banner hanging at ground zero and the words that are part of the 9-11 Uniform Patch.

The 9-11 Patch Project was created 14 years ago to keep the memory of our fallen heroes alive. Over 20,000 organizations around the world unite with one common tribute- one that comes in the form of a uniform patch, an apparatus decal, a challenge coin or even a flag.

If the uniform patch made so much sense for so many organizations, than why would it not make sense for all FDNY members to have the opportunity to share those common threads that bind us?

The "FDNY Firehouse Sponsorship," was created two years ago for the purpose of inviting folks like you into an FDNY Firehouse by way of a personalized sponsor letter and sending each firehouse member a 9-11 Uniform Patch. To date, over 90 FDNY Firehouses have been sponsored by FD's, retired FDNY members, family members, companies and average Joe's like me. It's a small act of remembrance and support but it is greatly appreciated by member's of the FDNY (see one thank you letter below):

So if you are looking for the right way to honor the 15 year mark of 9/11, this is your opportunity. There are about 123 firehouses left and you can sponsor as many of them as you'd like. It's affordable, memorable, has a high impact and above all...gives you that personal opportunity to show members of the FDNY how you feel about the loss of 343 of their brothers...even 15 years later!

As one of the hundreds of career firefighters who went down to help our brothers from FDNY in the weeks after the murder of thousands of Americans, I think that citizens of This great land could make sure this happens. What do you say America? Are you willing to step up ?
