are you the best version of you?
We all aim to be better. At whatever stage we are, we have a deep believe that it is not enough. Perhaps we have to know more (we enroll for an MBA) , or we need more money (we change a job) , perhaps we want to have better relationships or we feel that the time runs too fast and we need to reinvent ourselves.
There is a megatrend that is called beterment. It means that it is a universal need for all the people to be better.
Becoming better should also make us happier and more capable to do meaningful work.
During years , being better was associated with a clear goal that should confirm that you actually are better.
Then once you become better it happened that the mindset of being enough better went away and you start again.
Imagine that you have a plane, it is old and rusty. But with an excellent engine and no flight related risks. And you dream for a new one.. you calculate the cost, you know where to buy it from, you have a plan to obtain the money for it. And because you are smart and figure it out, you can do it. So you buy it.
You had options: continue to fly at least for the next year with the old one and enjoy it. Buy a new one, invest a lot of effort for years in row, and have a new one, much better one. Enjoy flying with the new one.
You chose the second one and you fly with a better plane. You enjoy it. For how long? What is the value that you really feel vs your effort,
There are not only either/nor in our life. We can find a lot of options if we are open for change and betternes. Let's make sure that we reflect on what we want to gain as well as what we are ready to lose for the best version of us.
Let's not forget that we want to be happy, not just better! There are always options for all our challenges, let's make sure we answer to the right questions!
