Your best ideas often come from your worst ideas.

Having bad ideas is all part of the journey to good ideas. Nobody is a genius, nobody.
Of course you don't go around touting your bad ideas, they are your little secrets, things to laugh about at times. But well all have them, every single creative person on this crazy little spinning rock we live on has bad ideas.
But remembering your bad ideas can also be a way to keep you in check, a way to remind you that nobody, none of us, even you, is perfect. And while we're on that point 'perfect' is a myth and a destroyer of creativity so the last thing you want to be is perfect.
The more you think and sweat over a blank page, the more scribbles, notes, doodles and thumbnail dipped in tar sketches you do in a notebook (and remember, go paper before pixels), the more of this you do the closer you are to getting to the better ideas, the ones that make it all seem worthwhile.
Sure you'll come up with some 'WTF was I thinking?' ideas, some may be so bad even your own Mother would tell you so, even the love of you life may look at them and need some alone time away from the person that created such crap, but that's life...that's creative life. It wont all be gold, high fives, and slaps on the back.
It took me some time to be understand that the bad is all part of the good when it comes to creativity. I was precious about my ideas, I wanted them all to be great, I would ensure the bad ones were sent to the bad idea graveyard (the shredder or fire) posthaste and pretend they never happened. But now I see the value in the process and the journey.
At the end of the day you need to enjoy the ride, hit the potholes, dodge the stray deers in the middle of the road, accept the breakdowns and do your best to get from A to B.
The more bad ideas the better. Why? It means you are doing a lot more thinking than most. Get the bad ones out of the way so as there is space for the good ones to breathe. At the end of the day, like many things in life, it's a numbers game.
So go ahead and be bad, it'll be good for you.
