Are you at the beginning or mid or end of the Rat Race ? - Part #1

Rat Race : a way of life in which people are caught up in a fiercely competitive struggle for wealth or power

Everyone of us - "was or is or will be" - part of the "Rat Race" during our life time. Why has the rate race become so popular ?

  • It gives us a sense of achievement
  • It makes us feel a sense of security
  • It gives us a sense of satisfaction
  • It us a sense of association with others who are also part
  • It gives us the feeling of keeping ourselves busy
  • It helps us overcome peer pressure
  • It provides us with a symbol of prestige

What are the aftermaths of the Rate Race :

  • No time for exercise or health
  • No time for recreation
  • No time for family, friends and relatives
  • No time for learning
  • No time for creativity or hobbies
  • No time for ourselves
  • No alternative sources of income

Life is most difficult for the people who are either at the beginning or at the end of the rat race as they find it extremely difficult to cope with their new situation.

In the next part, we will discuss as to why one needs to have a game plan to slowly but steadily get out of the rat race in the longer run.
