Are you an average professional?

I know that when you first read this question, you answered: "Of course I′m not!!", but I want you to reflect about how your professional life has been for the last 6 months.

  • Have you enrolled in any course in your industry?
  • Have you enrolled in any course to improve your communication skills? Language skills?
  • Have you tried to make yourself seen by speaking at a universities, companies, or even for your colleagues?
  • Do you believe your English skills are already good enough for what you do?
  • Do you believe you should enroll in at least 1 course per year?

Well, I don't know how many questions you've answered yes to, and how many you've answered no to, but I want you to reflect about something in your answers.

An international and sucessfull professional thinks about the changes in the world today. Things have changed for the better since you have graduated, and I'm sure you know exactlly what your colleagues/competitors are doing that you aren't. Whether it's because you don't like it or simply because you believe that what you already do is "good enough" for the market.

Sometimes our belief system doe not let us think about our professional development, making us obsolete for the industry we chose to conquer. In order to be a great professional, as well as an international one, we cannot think about what we WANT to do, but rather, what can I do to become a better professional each day.

"Good enough" is never really good enough. "Good enough" is just a sentence avarage people use to stay in their comfort zone, and we all know that staying in the comfort zone is the first ingredient for failure.

I understand your frustration with some of the things we have been experiencing in the market at the moment, like AI technologies taking jobs away from great professionals, but have you tried to think about ways you can use it in your favor? Not just AI, but all the great technologies that have been coming up by the second?

Did you know that even English teachers are using ChatGBT to get a little more creative? Students are trying to learn English with ChatGBT as well, some can take some kind of results out of it, some just think it's better to hire someone like us, specialized in what you need to become proficient.

Now, think about your answers, did you respond yes to the majority of them, or did you answer no. If you answered YES to most, then congratulations, you're not average, but if you answered NO to many of them, you're the one I want to talk to.

Firstly, I'd like to ask you to reflect upon why you answered no to these questions and question yourself: "Why not?"

Why shouldn't I take a course per year to recycle or learn something new? Why not improve my language skills? Why not develop my public speaking skills?

See, when you start think about the no's, try to change the route of your thoughts and start asking yourself why not?.

Deal?

I'll see you in our next talk!
