You Are the Author of Your Future

You Are the Author of Your Future

You are the author of your future. Even though you can’t control everything around you (far from it!), you can choose how you step forward and live your life. Our realities are born from our thoughts and attitudes—not from our circumstances. Even when you’re down on your luck, you can choose to start each day with a growth mentality, instead of letting yourself get caught up in bad news and defeatism.

You might be wondering, “How do I embrace an attitude of positivity and growth when nothing seems to be going my way?” In my experience, one of the most effective ways is to practice gratitude—daily and intentionally.

Practicing gratitude sounds like a simplistic solution to complex problems, but in reality, it is not. It is a powerful tool to help keep you motivated, focused, and propelled by joy and hope. If everyone set aside a few minutes every day to think about their life’s blessings, I truly believe we would all experience more kindness, understanding, and joy.

As the author of your future, it is also important to let go of the little things. Instead of letting little annoyances pile up, be proactive and let them go. It is not worth your time or headspace to dwell on these mosquito-bite annoyances. Honor yourself and your time by shaking off frustrations and focusing on the things that truly matter.

Center your life around forward motion, positivity, and the things that are within your control. Every morning, arm yourself with an attitude of, “I can and I will,” instead of falling victim to doubt and despair. As Deepak Chopra says, “Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.”

What will you choose to write on the blank pages of your future?

Sincerely, Louise Griffith
