Happy Saturday,
I recently put up a post on “You are the most valuable Asset. Invest in YOU”
Today, I would like to expound more due to the high demand for my direct messages.
You see, from an accountant's perspective, we have two items that must be on a balance sheet, namely assets and liabilities.
An asset simply means an item owned by a company or a person. A valuable thing, e.g. land, name them. ?The competitive advantage of an asset, unlike a liability, is that you have full ownership and appreciate in value.
A Liability, on the other hand, simply means something owed. I would call it a debt. This means a liability takes value from you.
Let us take an example of land being an asset; when you own it, you have a title deed and equally appreciate in value. You earn from the land via lease or utilize it for farming or selling. An asset puts value on you.
To become an Asset, you have to invest in yourself; just like the land, you have to put capital, time of varication and presence in the purchasing process.
Here are four ways of self-investment.

Recheck your expertise. Master your craft. This comes with educating yourself all around and about the career path you choose. Do not become a half-baked professional. Look for information about your background, read and read widely about it, and apply it as beneficially. This builds confidence.
In this brittle world, post-COVID, where anything can happen. Diversify your skills. At least every two months, learn to do a new thing and do it well. Make it part of your expertise. I have seen my sister, who is a maths and business teacher, doing a fantastic job at event decoration. These two are diverse, but they pay bills. They add value to her.
Dust off your Networks.
You have heard it, but I will repeat it again: your network is your net worth. Have you met people you share an issue with, and they tell you they know someone who can help? It’s called leveraging on your “social capital”. Networks are costly; they require capital, presence, and time. One day, my mentor told me just to show up; you sometimes don’t even need to speak; your presence matters. Gather your courage, meet potential networks in networking events, keep tabs by checking up on them more often…Ayee!. Shelf off your introverted personality and allow your light to shine for a moment. Be hungry. Be bold. Be enthusiastic to learn, connect and stretch your wings. Someday, this effort will pay off.
Prioritize both your physical and mental health. Invest in proper nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep, and stress management techniques. Seek professional help when needed and invest in self-care activities. Avoid too much junk, for heaven's sake. Trust me, there is such a great interconnection between the body, mind, and soul. Don’t allow either of them to slug. Build the discipline muscle. If you closely pay attention to these four areas, trust me, someday we shall meet in the corridors of greatness, and you shall buy me that mint shake that i crave every Tuesday evening at 5:30
Let's connect. I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

1 年Inspiring, it's very good to dust off our networks and see where we are heading to with current connections and how to connect with a meaningful and challenging network. It is very crucial to be surrounded with successful and positive minds. Before doing anything, we need to understand that self introspection is of paramount importance. With all being said and self assessment is key before checking on 360 Degree feedback. #Become Limitless #Personal Development
