Approach sales with a curious mindset and connect with more buyers.

Use questions to win your prospect’s confidence, cooperation, and trust. In today's age of continuous change, sellers must master the art of inquiry and ask thought-provoking questions that no one else is asking.

Examples of thought-provoking questions:

  • What are the most critical unmet or undiscovered needs in your industry?
  • How do you know whether you deliver more value than your competitors?
  • Do your customers have new choices that will encourage them to take their business to your competition?
  • Which has better odds of success for your organization: low-cost or value-based solutions?
  • How does your organization identify "blind spots" in your business strategies?
  • Do you know why your customers buy from you? And why do they stop buying from you?

The popular belief is that sellers win sales by being clever and quick on their feet, having the unique ability to say just the right thing. But research shows that knowing the right questions to ask is far more critical than having a ready-to-fire answer.

The great philosopher Voltaire said, "Judge a man by his questions, rather than by his answers." Don't make the error of overlooking how crucial this truly is.

Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, once said, "We run this company on questions, not answers." If you keep asking better questions, eventually, you'll get better answers.
