If you ask any creator what they need more of, the answer is universally TIME.

Some people are already talking about how AI will ultimately replace humans for a lot of activities but as I've mentioned several times here in LinkedIn, at Adobe we have a very different viewpoint on this.

Our fundamental belief is that our AI platform, Adobe Sensei, will amplify human creativity and intelligence, not replace it.

It will free you as creatives from doing repetitive and mundane tasks, and because it understands deeply how you work, Adobe Sensei can in fact help you focus on that very unique creative expression that only humans can do.

As Adobe's CEO, Shantanu Narayen clearly puts it:

" No one ever wants to do in 3 hours what they could get done in 3 seconds."

For what humans can’t do – or what they prefer not to do – artificial intelligence is evolving to fill that need. AI can see patterns and possibilities that we may not.

Adobe Sensei, harnesses the collective intelligence of the entire creative community, learning from the hundreds of millions of assets managed in our clouds.

It can understand what you want and anticipate what you need, from what you personally have done before as well as the millions of other creatives who have done the same task.

To get a glimpse into the future of creativity check out David Nuescheler's and Abhay Parasnis' session at Adobe MAX conference a few weeks ago where they showcased the following three features straight from Adobe's research labs:

Creative Assistant

It won’t be long before AI is capable of powering personalized creative assistants, anticipating our needs or even offering advice and insight as a valued creative collaborator.

For example, using your voice you may say “Sensei, find some images based on my sketch”. And just like that Adobe Sensei may search through all your private assets, as well as tagged assets found through the Adobe Stock service and display what may be useful for your creative journey. And since it understand the context (see Content & Design Intelligence below) the assets presented are of course relevant for the piece you're working on.

Content & Design Intelligence

Here, Adobe Sensei models are being trained on imaging, video, design, illustration thus allowing designers and artists to push the creative boundaries.

Sensei is focused on deeply understanding content by using deep learning techniques to search, tag and extract meaning out of a wide range of creative assets and documents.

Already now there are more than 30+ exciting intelligence features. In fact, if you’ve used any of the Adobe tools you’ve probably without knowing already used any of these Adobe Sensei-powered features in your work. For example, "Face-aware liquify" in Adobe Photoshop; "Visual stock search" in Adobe Stock; "Morph Cut" in Adobe Premiere.

Creative Graph

Think of it as a way of Adobe Sensei keeping track of every decision that you make throughout the process of creating and designing a piece of work.

For example, After a delivery if a client request changes to a piece of work, you can go back and change things in the creative graph timeline. But most importantly, the changes you make will be in context, so you don't have to re-do all your work again and waste valuable time. Check out this video to see an early preview manifestation of how the Creative graph could look like.

In summary, Adobe Sensei is the science behind what we’ve previously called “Adobe magic”.

It'll save you time, letting you do what you love, that is being creative. It'll take care of the less glamorous and mundane tasks and above all assist you without the technology getting into your way. That’s what we’re striving for.

We announced a lot of innovations at this year's Adobe MAX conference in Las Vegas. If you couldn't make it, you can still get the scoop on the major announcements here.
