Are You The Art, Artist, Or The Visitor? How Would You Answer As A Leader?

Are You The Art, Artist, Or The Visitor? How Would You Answer As A Leader?

I was going through part of a certification recently and a really interesting question was brought up.

Are you the Art, Artist, or the Visitor?

The question was referencing how we were living our lives, what we did, and how we viewed ourselves within that.

It is also a great question to ask and think about as a Leader.

Art is that which is to be admired.

The "Canvas" may look different for different people depending on what they are doing, just as is true for most art.

Some art is displayed on literal canvas.

Other art is displayed in fashion and jewelry.

Still, there is another group where the art is shown on a stage with actors and actresses, dancers, and martial artists.

Even a business could be a form of art.

There are many ways to define "Art", so it can be very flexible in this context.

The Artist is the individual who is the creator of the Art that is to be admired.

This too can be interpreted in many different ways.

A Painter is a type of Artist.

So too is a Photographer.

With this though, You could also have Dancers and Martial Artists who are both Art and Artists at the same time.

If you are the Artist, what is it you are creating?

Finally, there is the Visitor.

They are the ones who come to view the Art that has been created.

Some Visitors are Critics, looking for the bad in the Art.

There too are Visitors that come to share the Art with a wider audience, such as a Podcaster who might share someone else's expertise.

Then there are some Visitors who simply are there to View.

All of these roles have strengths and are needed for different reasons.

Art cannot be created without the Artist.

The Artist must have a reason to show the Art to the Visitor.

The Visitor has nothing to visit unless there is Art.

So, as you think about your life, which are you?

Are you the Art?

Are you the Artist?

Are you the Visitor?

I know what I answered.

Which am I?

Yes.

I believe that my life is a form of Art, which is why I believe being an Exemplar is so important as a Leader.

Visitors are looking for how you live your life, for it to be worth Viewing.

I also believe that I am an Artist.

Through how I live my life, through the articles I write, and through my conversations with clients, all of them allow me to work on creating beautiful pieces of Art.

I don't always act as the Artist alone, especially when I have coaching conversations where clients act as the main Artists and I help, adjust, and aid their efforts.

However, in one way or another, I try to work on something that is Artistic, sometimes blatantly obvious, and sometimes more subtle, in every aspect of my life.

I am also the Visitor.

I work with clients who themselves are Artists working on different types of Art.

I read the work that others are doing, seeking to better understand what it is they are accomplishing and discovering.

Sometimes, I am simply admiring the beauty that exists naturally in life.

This is how I chose to answer the question.

How would you?
