Are you always ready for media?

You never know when a media opportunity is going to arise.

Last weekend I was hosting my tailgate for Virginia Tech's spring game. All of a sudden the local radio station was there and wanted to interview me about tailgating.

They had also seen Bud Foster at our tailgate who is a coaching legend at the school and has just relaunched his Foundation (and I happen to be on the Board ). When he asked me about Coach being there I was able to turn the interview to talk about the Foundation and what it is doing to help people in southwest Virginia.

The radio station audience was perfect to hear about the Foundation.

Last year when another media outlet came to interview me about our tailgate (it is quite large - haha), I was able to mention our food sponsor, Roots Natural Kitchen.

Be prepared so when any opportunity arises, you are ready to speak to the media and have your soundbites in order so you give a great interview.
