You Already Have the Answer...

You Already Have the Answer...

1.???? This Week's Encouragement:

Do you find yourself standing at the intersection of an important decision, endlessly dissecting each option? Perhaps it's the crossroads of a new business venture, whether to pursue that elusive client, or even contemplating a major life change like relocating or shifting gears in your career. It's normal to feel the weight of these choices.

It's like having a mental tug-of-war, with your thoughts pulling you in every direction possible. You've done your research, sought advice from trusted confidants, and even interviewed those who've walked a similar path. Yet, despite your best efforts, the decision still feels elusive. That's the trap of overthinking. It masquerades as thorough preparation when, in reality, it's just procrastination in a fancy outfit.

As someone deeply entrenched in the realms of coaching and hypnotherapy, I've seen firsthand how overthinking can morph into self-sabotage. Here's a gentle nudge from me to you: You already have the answer.

Here's a few thoughts I share with my clients:

  • Trust Yourself First --Let's unpack this a bit. When you mull over a problem, what's the first solution that pops into your mind? That instinctual response is your subconscious nudging you towards the right path. Trust it.
  • Deadline it --Give yourself a deadline to stop the research and investigation portion. Simply decide. Make the best decision with information you have on decision day. ?Remember, it's okay if it's not perfect. What matters is that you're moving forward.
  • Free Yourself -- Lastly, once you've made your decision, own it. Release the shackles of "could haves" and "should haves." Every experience is a stepping stone on your journey, shaping you into the person you're meant to become.

3.?Thought Exercise: Find Your Answer

  • Find a quiet space and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.
  • Visualize the decision you're facing and pay attention to any bodily sensations.
  • Focus on hearing your inner voice and trust the first response that arises.
  • Picture yourself taking action based on this inner knowing with confidence.
  • Open your eyes, carrying this wisdom with you as you navigate your decision.

Q. Hello Keita,

I currently find myself juggling two businesses - one rooted in my two-decade corporate expertise, and the other fueled by my love for travel and adventure. Despite the richness of my ventures, I often feel overwhelmed and find myself trapped in a cycle of procrastination. The stress of financial concerns looms large, yet I struggle to take decisive action. I've been contemplating focusing on just one of my businesses, but I'm stuck in a loop of indecision. What would you recommend?

Sincerely,

Less Thoughts, More Action

As always, I'm profoundly grateful for the chance to share these insights with you in this edition of Take 5 Tuesday. I have a post-it note on my computer screen that says "don't think, just do." I look at it constantly, especially in those moments of "I'm thinking about overthinking this." lol. I've built some safeguards and systems around my tendency to be in my head too much that help me knock it off and get back to work. AND trust my gut.

Absolutely agree. Overthinking is just a fancier way to procrastinate and self-sabotage.
