Even when you don't consider yourself a creative person, you are always a creative being because at every moment you are creating your own reality.
When you feel curiosity about something, when you want to improve and master yourself in one area, when you look for ways of doing the same things you always do differently, when you look for other possibilities to what is happening in your life, you are being creative.
Creativity is simply this capacity we all have to imagine different possibilities and alternatives, this ability to create new visions, and of taping into our curiosity.
Whenever you feel stuck or like you are in 'automatic' in life, it's probably because your creative nature is not being used.
Here are a few simple ways you can use to tap into your creative power, activate the creativity already inside you, and to shake things up in your daily life:
- Be a beginner and try something new: Getting out of our comfort zone and daring to try new things forces us to break up the routine and get out of the automatic pilot, which in turn makes us learn new skills and be more present in our bodies and the experience.
- Take a different route: How many times have you been driving and you arrive at your destination without really noticing how you got there? Again, our minds are often set on automatic pilots. Shake things up and make sure you
- Order something different: If you are like most people, you eat mostly the same every day (or a variation of it) and order the same or similar foods every day. It makes it easier and more comfortable to do so. Make sure to challenge yourself from time to time to try and savor new things. The way you enjoy food is the way you enjoy life. Giving yourself space to savor different things opens new possibilities to savor in life as well.
- Journal your thoughts, dreams, and goals: Let your mind wander and put it in paper. Creating bucket lists and manifestation boards, and writing down our dreams let us imagine new possibilities and in turn, makes us more open to creating new realities in our lives.
- Spend time being "bored": And by "bored", I mean spending time without so much external influence, without the constant influx of screens, messages, likes, and videos. Spend time in nature, spend time being in silence, even spend time moving, just spend time without being connected to any devices and see how you feel).
- Make time to do nothing: When was the last time you did nothing, REALLY nothing? Try it for 5 minutes and just focus on your breathing. Start with 1 or 2 minutes if 5 minutes feels like too much. (Word of Caution: It will probably feel strange when you first start doing it. Do it anyway and give it a chance for a few days to see how it feels).
