Are You Afraid of the Silence?

Charismatic Communication Coach | Training Voice, Body Language & Mindset for Success
Public speaking can feel terrifying. You step onto the stage, and within seconds, your audience forms an impression of you based on how your voice sounds, your body language, and your confidence. These judgments can feel overwhelming. For many, the fear of being judged—or losing credibility—is paralyzing.
For me, it was a lack of confidence.
I remember being invited to speak at an important coaching seminar. I had practiced every word, rehearsed every gesture. Yet, as I stepped on stage, my mind went blank. My heart raced, my breath quickened, and I felt like I was seconds away from disaster.
But here’s the thing: I recovered. I took a deep breath, found my calm, and focused on my opening. The speech wasn’t perfect, but it was heartfelt.
A week later, I performed with my band. Strangely, I felt the same physical sensations—racing heart, adrenaline, shallow breathing—but this time, it wasn’t fear. It was excitement.
The difference? My mindset.

Silence is Your Ally
One of the most common habits I’ve noticed in struggling speakers is the overuse of “umm” and “uhh.” It can be distracting and can dilute your message.
Here’s how to break that habit:
Your Voice is Your Superpower
The voice is one of the most powerful tools we have, yet many of us don’t take the time to train it. Imagine walking into a room, giving a presentation, or even having a casual conversation where you feel entirely in control. What would that confidence do for you?
You can transform fear into charisma. You can go from dreading public speaking to owning the stage.
Want to learn how? I’ll share more strategies in future editions of this newsletter.
Let’s take this journey together. Vote in the poll and reply with your biggest challenges!
Stay bold, Cecilia (Public Speaking & Communication Coach)
