We are inviting applications to the Master in Environmental Studies program at York.
- York’s MES was the first program of its kind in Canada, and remains one of the largest in the country. Now housed in the new Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change at York University, the MES program brings together the social sciences, humanities, arts, and natural sciences to make positive change for a just and sustainable future.?
- Through a two-year interdisciplinary program, students are challenged to think differently about natural, social and built environments. Major areas of focus include Climate Change and Sustainable Energy, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Conservation and Management, Sustainable Food Systems, Environment and Culture, and Business and Environment.
- Unique to the MES, our program offers you a self-directed structure that involves working closely with an advisor to tailor a program that is suited to your academic and career aspirations.
- Your MES program will include hands-on & field-based experiential learning, work placements & internship opportunities, and the flexibility to complete a research project as a thesis, major paper or portfolio.
- You may also choose specialized MES program options such as our professional and OPPI/CIP-accredited Planning program, the Joint MES/JD program offered in conjunction with Osgoode Hall Law School, or our graduate diplomas in Environmental & Sustainability Education with the Faculty of Education, and Business & the Environment with the Schulich School of Business.
- All students in the program receive funding through a graduate fellowship and are eligible for a wide array of internal scholarships and awards.
