Yonder Ia?i Hackathon
At the beginning of June, our colleagues from Ia?i are organizing a new Hackathon, so we didn’t miss the opportunity to find out more about this edition.
Read the interview with C?t?lin Chiculi??, Techboard member and part of the organizing team, and discover the insights of Yonder Ia?i Hackathon.
Organizing a Hackathon can be stressful mess. Which are the biggest challenges you have to deal with?
One of our biggest challenges was to find the ideas which have applicability also on existing projects, but we passed that stage. Currently we're assembling the teams and deciding which framework or technology is more interesting to explore.
What is your motivation to be part of such an event?
A hackathon is a great opportunity to learn something new and to switch the daily context for a short period of time. Also, having a possibility to collaborate with other colleagues that you don't work on a daily basis helps you grow.

What is the difference between a Hackathon project and a production-ready product?
A Hackathon project is a PoC (proof of concept) where you test if your idea is feasible and, usually, you manage to identify most of the challenges, risks or impediments that your product might have to face. Also, it contains (a few partially) happy flows, while a production-ready product contains all the functionality which is properly tested.
A new edition of Yonder Iasi Hackathon is about to happen. Have you already decided the ideas to develop?
Yes, we gathered some ideas for this hackathon:
For many people, participating in their first hackathon can be intimidating. What would you tell them?
We will gather to learn, innovate and have fun. For every participant it will be at least one new thing, so you don't have to worry about this. Also, we're not aiming for a production-ready outcome, so no pressure on that. So if you haven’t experienced this yet, don’t miss the opportunity.
