SMART Goals
At Yohlar, we believe in the transformative power of SMART goals. Anyone who has joined us?for one of our Discovery Sessions knows that SMART goals are at the core of our approach to innovation and exploration. But what exactly are SMART goals, and why should you use them??
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. These five criteria make up the framework that turns vague ideas into actionable plans.?Here's why SMART goals are indispensable:
Clarity and Precision
SMART goals force you to define your objectives in precise terms, leaving no room for ambiguity. Instead of saying, "I want to get better at marketing," you'd say, "I will increase website traffic by 20% through SEO and content marketing in six months."?
Measurable Progress
The 'M' in SMART ensures that your goals are measurable. It allows you to track your progress and provides an objective measurement of success.?
Achievability
SMART goals are grounded in reality, even while showing ambition. They require you to assess whether your goals are attainable with your current resources and capabilities. This practical approach prevents setting yourself up for disappointment and helps identify necessary steps for success.
Relevance
Every goal should align with your larger vision and mission. Understanding why a goal matters fosters a deeper commitment to achieving it.
Time-Bound Commitment
The 'T' in SMART goals introduces a sense of urgency. It's not just about what you want to achieve but when. Setting deadlines holds you accountable and prevents procrastination.
Innovation and change are like oxygen. If they are not diffused into an organisation's bloodstream then it will die.
Although it’s perhaps a bit of an extreme analogy in a world filled with such rapid rates of change, it’s never been truer.
