YOGA FOCUS ON FEELING

YOGA FOCUS ON FEELING

“Yoga Focus on Feeling” - Club Activity was organized by Ms.Sineka M - Yoga club co-coordinator, on 30th November 2024 at SNS College of Allied Health Science. Unlike traditional yoga classes that focus on achieving specific postures or sequences, this activity centered around cultivating mindfulness and body awareness. Through intentional breathwork, slow movement, and emotional exploration, participants were guided to explore how their bodies felt in each pose, without the pressure of perfecting form.

Yoga that focuses on "feeling" emphasizes a deeper, more mindful experience rather than just achieving physical postures or following a sequence. The essence is to bring attention to the sensations in the body, the breath, and the emotional and mental states that arise during the practice. This approach helps to cultivate awareness, presence, and acceptance.

The session began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty. Participants began with a short pranayama session, focusing on deep, slow breathing. The aim was to connect to the present moment and set a calm, centered tone for the rest of the practice. Participants were encouraged to observe the sensations of the breath entering and leaving the body.

During the session, participants were encouraged to periodically check in with different parts of their bodies, noticing any sensations, both physical and emotional. The instructor reminded everyone that any feelings, whether positive or negative, were valid and part of the process.

The "Focus on Feeling" yoga session was a success in fostering a deeper connection with the body and emotions. Participants left feeling more present, relaxed, and mindful of the sensations in their bodies. Moving forward, we aim to continue incorporating mindfulness practices that focus on feeling to help participants grow in their yoga journey, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally as well.
