Yoga class or sociopath training? Overcoming the challenge of clashing commitments

<These views are not even my own, much less the views of my employer. Laugh at what scares us. It's satire>

Our modern lives are so hectic these days and this can go for our social lives too. It's a wonder I can find the time to blog and judging by the smell emanating from my fridge I should probably be doing something else instead. But hey ho, I have started so I might as well get this done.

This week I am sitting on the horns of a dilemma common to many where two things I really want to do are scheduled at the same time. Now, normally I go to yoga on Thursdays and sociopath training on Fridays so I feel melty and relaxed ready for the weekend. But this week our sociopath instructor will be on holiday so I will be forced to choose between my Thursday yoga class and the alternative Thursday sociopath training given by someone else at the same time. And both classes are popular and can get over subscribed so I have to decide fast. Tricky.

Am running through the options in my head and here are some of the things that occurred to me.

Do I use my sociopath training to try to guilt-trip the yoga instructor to move the whole class to Friday so I can attend both? She did scratch my car once getting out of the car park. It would inconvenience her and the rest of the class, but that's their problem not mine as my Friday training has taught me.

Or do I use my yoga third eye karma nidra to let go of the attachment to my Friday sociopath training class and spend my time in private study from my extensive sociopath library instead?

Delving further in, it is becoming apparent that both classes help build flexibility and shed attachment: the yoga physically and spiritually and the sociopath training morally. Both are liberating and even some of the exercises are similar. In yoga we might do Salute to the Sun, while in sociopath training we do Salute to the #Self. I have been incorporating both into my daily routine for the last six months and have even tried combining them. I can report many health benefits.

So Q: what would you do?

Christopher Patten first, understand there's a difference between KEEPING our commitments and HONORING our commitments. The first assumes we can simply add events to our calendar and keep to that schedule. In other words, nothing changes. We kept our promise. But priorities change, shit happens. Sometimes, we have to reshuffle commitments several times a day. To honor our commitments, we need to be able to renegotiate with ourselves and others, honoring "our word" while respectung the burdens these changes may pass onto others. Does this make sense to you?

"Or do I use my yoga third eye karma nidra to let go of the attachment to my..." yoga class.. and then... go to your Friday sociopath trainiing class and use your yoga third eye karma nidra once again to let go of the attachment to all your sociopath training classes.... ... which will lead to your personal and extensive sociopath library book-burning event... ... inviting all of your yoga and sociopath classmates together to join in the collective #LettingGo moment. Unless of course your life's work - for a secret, or not so secret, agency - is the business of understanding sociopathy and discovering sociopaths, et al, and doing something about the disease... ....making the decision of class attendance easier. ;))) Ryan Stoffko
