YMCA Completes Locker Room Project, Announces Ribbon-Cutting Celebration

The Harrisburg Area YMCA’s Northern Dauphin County Branch will cut the ribbon on newly renovated locker rooms in their facility on April 23 at 11AM. This comprehensive renovation project was made possible by generous support from The DeSoto Family and Miter Brands and has completely reimagined the locker room space at the YMCA.

The 20,000 square foot facility in Elizabethville, PA has provided services for the Upper Dauphin region since 1997. The facility serves over 6,000 youth, teens, adults, families, and seniors annually through programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The locker room facility comprises 1,750 square feet intended to provide maximum privacy for all through 8 single use private spaces for showering, restroom use, and changing.

“Providing options for our community to access our facilities and meet their expectations of privacy and safety is the primary reason we chose to move away from communal locker spaces and re-deploy the space in this new way,” said David Ozmore, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Area YMCA. “Members may be coming with young children or aging parents, or they may observe cultural or personal modesty standards that a communal space can’t accommodate easily. The addition of privacy for all provides equal access to our facilities with the maximum amount of privacy for our members and guests.”

The $600,000 project was made possible through the generous support of the DeSoto Family and Miter Brands. The YMCA contracted with Mowery Special Projects and Murray and Associates to create this new space.

To celebrate the opening of the new locker room space at the Northern Dauphin County YMCA, the organization will host a ribbon-cutting event on April 23, 2024, at 11AM followed by? a light reception. The branch is located at 500 North Church Street, Elizabethville, PA 17032.
