YMC : Leaders of Tomorrow
Hip Hing Construction Company Limited
The contractor you trust
The construction industry is expected to be shorthanded by 4,000 to 10,000 professional and technical staff and other personnel in 2023.
As one of Hong Kong?s leading contractors with a headcount of approximately 12,000 staff and workers at our sites daily, it is of the utmost importance that we cultivate the next generation of leaders, to create a place where they feel they belong, and contribute to the sustainable development of the industry.
Currently, around 1,000 of our 2,800 employees are under theage of 35. Our Young Members' Club (YMC), aims to bring together our young professionals and future leaders to network, to learn, and to inspire ideas, so that we can build a stronger future for our group and the industry by fostering a community with a shared vision and collaboration.
Youth Development and Youth Leadership
YMC exists to encourage the younger generation to take ownership of their personal development and to provide support to them when doing so. It also aims to be a community through which they can coalesce and represent the opinions of their generation to the Group and the industry.
Four Objectives of YMC
A Sense of Community
Ray Lo , “We believe in the power of community. For this reason we intend to include members across different disciplines and functional units, and form a representative mini version of the organisation. Collectively, we can generate comprehensive perspectives, and spark inspirations to shape a new landscape of our industry. In fact, we are very glad to see each and every one of our Committee members embrace the same vision - we?re all in this together.”

Start with Empathy
“As members of the young generation ourselves, we have the responsibility to meet the expectations of our peers and sustain the success. So we are always driven to create a YMC community that allows our members to have an eye-opening and engaging experience inside and outside of the Company. When participants are coming back again for the next activity, we know we are on the right track.”
Leaders Make Leaders
Michele Lui , “From a fresh graduate to a manager today, I feel grateful for the supportive workplace here at Hip Hing. My mentors and teammates are amazing people who help me grow and have made me who I am today. Therefore, I?d like to pay it forward – to spread the spirit of succession through my services in YMC as a coach and counsellor to the younger generations, our future leaders.”
From Inside Out
“YMC envisions to help members believe in themselves. At their early careers, our young members might not have the opportunity to lead a project. At YMC however, they could start small by taking the lead of an activity on their own. Through rising up to these unique challenges, it cultivates their self-esteem, leadership skill, and helps them unlock full potential at work.”
