The Yin and Yang of Ubiquitous IT

With increased presence becomes increased reliance and therefore increased disruption when issues occur. The ubiquity of apps on phones, watches, glasses, etc. let alone on traditional devices such as laptops or desktops means that the culture of IT, and providers, must change from reactive with a fast speed of response, to proactive with a zero-defect mentality.

Pro-active monitoring tools can be used watch user journeys from the screen right back to the cloud and the server therein monitoring each component in minute detail. Incidents can be prevented or addressed before the user journey is negatively impacted. Application Lifecycle tools can also be used to reduce the number of defects entering complex application landscapes through more rigorous checking and testing. And finally, for those defects that do sneak through improved tooling supports a better customer experience for the end user and a quicker return to normal.
