Yes, You Can Do This!

The Power of Believing You Can

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy. — Norman Vincent Peale

Wow, how amazing is it to hear someone else tell us we CAN do something; to give us permission to do what we’re unsure of. Encouraging us to believe that whatever it is, whatever it takes, we can do it.

The simple words “yes, you can” make a monumental difference in our thinking, beliefs, and actions. It's amazing the transformation that takes place in our minds when we start believing we can do something.

Literally, in a very short period of time, because we start believing we can, we go from “There’s no way I can do this,” to “you know what, maybe I can do this,” to “Hell yeah, I can do this!”

Let me be the first to tell you today, or this week, or maybe in a very long time; YES… YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Whatever it is, YOU CAN, whatever it is you’re considering, YOU CAN, no matter what you believe or what someone else has told you… YOU CAN!

Believing you can, opens up endless possibilities for life. You may find it difficult to do at times because we've been preconditioned to believe “we can't,” preconditioned to doubt ourselves and what we are capable of accomplishing.

Everything you’ll have in your life will be a result of your belief in yourself and the belief that YOU CAN DO THIS!

Here are four important steps to learning to believe in yourself. Practice them, work on them, make them a part of your daily life. You’ll be amazed at the results:

Believe YOU Can do This.

“We are who we believe we are.” C.S Lewis

Believing in yourself means having faith in what you're capable of. It means believing that you CAN accomplish something — that it is within your ability.

When you believe in yourself, you push back the lies in your head; you remove the doubt that lives in your brain, robbing you of confidence. You begin to overcome self-doubt and create confidence, allowing you to take action and get things done.

When you’re struggling with confidence, your focused on all of the wrong things like weaknesses that are painfully etched in your mind, reminding you of feelings like shame, weakness, and failure.

“I’m bad at this,” quickly escalates to, “I’ll never be good at anything!”

Maybe it’s true. Maybe you don't have what it takes to accomplish your goals — right now. But by believing in yourself, you can improve, develop, and learn new skills; you can get there — even though nothing is currently going right.

Believing that you can change your life for the better is the driving force behind belief in yourself. There is no greater confidence booster than seeing the results of your hard work. But first, you must believe it.

Surround Yourself with People Who Believe You Can Do This

Who and what we surround ourselves with is who and what we become. In the midst of good people, it is easy to be good. In the midst of bad people, it is easy to be bad. ― Karen Marie Moning

So I want to ask you something. Who do you surround yourself with? Do you surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you, people who encourage you to be the best you can be?

Or do you surround yourself with people that don’t hold to the same values and beliefs that you do, because who you hang out with does matter?

That’s right, that means if you want to be successful in life, you need to surround yourself with people who think and believe the same as you about their future and success. Surround yourself with people who will lift you up and bring out the best in you.

Surround yourself with people who will challenge you to become the best possible version of yourself every day. If you want to be happy and positive, you need to surround yourself with people who make you feel happy and positive about your life.

Visualize Yourself Being Victorious Doing This

“Visualization is the human being's vehicle to the future — good, bad, or indifferent. It’s strictly in our control.” Earl Nightingale

If you can visualize it, you can achieve it. Achieving you’re goals and dreams is about picturing yourself doing exactly that. You have to look beyond your current circumstances and past your failures and begin to see yourself accomplishing the things your dreams and biggest goals are made of.

It's important that you visualize your success in as much detail as possible. You want to create a visual picture of your future. The picture needs to be real and visceral to the point that you could almost step into the story and walk around in it. So real that you can feel it, hear it, and taste it.

You start by asking yourself a few questions:

Who do I want to be in life? What’s important to me? Where am I going?

What kind of experiences do I want to have? What will get me out of bed every morning? What do I care about the most?

What have I always wanted to do but didn’t have the courage? Where would I rather be spending my time? What inspires me most?

What do I want to accomplish in my life? What do I want my income to be, my savings, vacations, and adventures?

How do I want to be remembered?

What do I want my marriage, my family, and my relationships to look like?

Write down your answers to these questions and put them together to create a written Vision of your Future. Refer to it often, read through it daily to keep you focused and motivated.

Your Vision will be a living part of you. It will morph over time and change as you change. It will grow as you grow and learn as you learn who you’re becoming, where you want to go, and what you want to accomplish.

Every year you’ll look back at who you were the year before, and you won’t even recognize yourself because of how much you’ve grown. All because you took the time to visualize your future and create a written Vision for your Future.

Act as if You’re Already Doing This

“Act as if! Act as if you’re a wealthy man, rich already, and then you’ll surely become rich. Act as if you have unmatched confidence, and then people will surely have confidence in you. Act as if you have an unmatched experience, and then people will follow your advice. And act as if you are already a tremendous success, and as sure as I stand here today — you will become successful.” Jordan Belfort

I want to be very clear that this is not the “Fake it til you make it” mentality as much as it is you starting to act like the person in your vision. This is not you pretending to be something your not, in fact, it’s you acting like the person you're becoming, the more successful you in your vision.

When it comes to acting like the you in your vision, you will need to think on it and practice it daily. You’ll want it to become a part of you, a part of your daily life, so it becomes a habit.

Because your acting as if you are the successful person in your vision, your mind begins to make it real because it doesn't know the difference. And when your actions become consistent with how you feel, it further enables you to think and believe that you are the person in your vision.

Over time you’ll wake up to discover that you have become your vision, you are acting and thinking like the successful person in your vision.

Even greater still you realize that you’ve become the person in your vision in a much shorter period of time than you originally set out to accomplish because you were diligent in the daily habit of acting like the person you’re becoming, the YOU in YOUR vision.

Conclusion

The answer to the question that's been rolling around in your head is YES! Yes, you can do this. Yes, you have the power within you to transform your life into the vision you have for yourself.

Everything you will have in your life, all the success and accomplishments, will be a result of your belief in yourself and the belief that;

YOU CAN DO THIS!
