I am reading about women, and I know quite a?few, who are strong and accomplished, who have challenging pursuits that matter to them, and seem to juggle everything. Conversely, I'm also reading about women, and I know quite a?few who I care about, who are overwhelmed nearly to the breaking point by their commitments. I've been there. My question is, what are we doing to ourselves? My answer to myself at that time was I was over committing. I wondered, "How can I get through another day when I have all of these commitments to deliver?" Sure, I knew I'd asked for them, but that did not make the burden of them any lighter. In time, I learned, yes, it is OK to say no.?
If this resonates with you, here's my message to you.?
Many times we feel that those commitments that we have agreed to or that we have promised ourselves are life defining. Yes, they are, but at what cost to your life? Think about the things that you say are your burdens. What can you move to another time slot or let go? And what is no longer of great interest to you that you'd said yes to? Yes, it's OK to say no. Please look at your calendar, your commitments, and check out (maybe check off) what is a true passion project for you, and yes, it's still OK to say no. It's part of self-care. Without you here, what would be missing??
If you'd like to chat, I can be a neutral listener for you. Let me know.
