NETWORKING NETWORKING NETWORKING... It's the star of the show, and for good reason. ??

As the semester comes to an end, it's time to look back on the valuable lessons and connections made during the enlightening Digital Media Marketing Seminar led by Professor Wendy Greenwood . Join me as I share how I put seminar tips into action and landed a coveted co-op placement, thanks to the power of networking.

The Digital Media Marketing Seminar has been incredibly valuable, offering invaluable guidance for my career aspirations as they grow. Each speaker brought a unique perspective, leaving a lasting impression on my journey. However, it was Sian Mitchell dynamic journey to becoming a Strategic Marketing Specialist that particularly resonated with me. Her story showed how being adaptable and developing transferable skills can lead to success. Inspired by her journey, I decided to welcome changes in my career path and make the most of every opportunity. By trying different things and staying true to myself, I now feel confident navigating the complex world of marketing with determination and clarity.

During our seminars, we learned how crucial networking and building meaningful connections are in the competitive field of marketing. It's clear that having a strong network and using valuable resources are essential for success. Armed with this knowledge, I actively engaged in various networking events, joined pertinent LinkedIn groups, subscribed to industry-specific newsletters in LinkedIn, and sought guidance from professors to refine my resume and work portfolio.

The connections I've built with industry experts, classmates, and professors on LinkedIn have been incredibly useful. They've exposed me to lots of helpful information and given me a supportive network to navigate the world of marketing.

Also, being part of LinkedIn groups and newsletters has helped me make valuable connections. It's created a space where I can keep learning and working with others. Talking about interesting topics, sharing helpful ideas, and working together on projects in these groups has built strong connections for me. It's also made me feel like I belong to a close-knit community in the marketing field.

As emphasized in our seminars, volunteering has emerged as a pivotal means of gaining hands-on experience in the industry. In pursuit of this, I enthusiastically seized the opportunity to volunteer as an email marketing specialist for an esteemed educational consultancy here in Toronto. This chance, made possible by networking, shows how important it is to keep in touch with people. By staying in touch with a friend who was engaged in a co-op at the business, I was able to secure a meeting that led to this invaluable volunteering opportunity. Expressing my gratitude for this opportunity on LinkedIn further underscored the significance of networking and nurturing connections.

I primarily dedicate my time to utilizing job search platforms such as LinkedIn, where I filter job titles and locations to receive pertinent job alerts. Additionally, I actively explore opportunities on Indeed and Jooble. Moreover, I focus on expanding my network on LinkedIn in hopes of establishing connections that could lead to potential opportunities.

Certainly, there were times when I felt disheartened after facing rejection. But with encouragement from uplifting posts on LinkedIn, I stayed determined and kept pushing forward in my pursuit of professional success. In the end, networking played a crucial role in helping me secure a desirable paid co-op placement that matched my career goals.

I stay active on LinkedIn, regularly interacting with posts from my connections and sharing relevant content related to my professional interests. Additionally, whenever I come across a promising opportunity, I make sure to share it with my friends and connections as a way to give back the support I've received on my journey.

I was lucky to land a paid co-op placement ????, and guess what? Networking was key in making it happen! By reaching out to my connections, highlighting my skills, and showing my genuine passion for the industry, I secured a position that matched my career goals perfectly.
