Blockchain : Break the stalemate
Sharing...
After exploring for one year the implications of Blockchain technology for the very design of our information systems, I came to the conclusion that there is in fact a tremendous opportunity to simplify information systems while multiplying their power at the scale of ecosystems, all without falling into the trap of large platforms, historically comparable to what were Mainframes at one time.
We can rethink our information systems on a totally revolutionary data model where data has systemic properties, a formula for summarizing the idea that functional, legal and economic constraints related to the use of digital assets can be natively supported at the lowest level on a decentralized model so by restriction, usable in any other context.
But of course, the path we take comes under the pressure of dominant interests .... A bit like the end of the 90s or the technology of the EJB pushed by the leaders in place took precedence over new technologies having not enough time to grow but clearly superior in their foundations like Jini or the Java Server.
If we take a look at startups like https://www.arcblock.io or https://loyakk.io or https://ont.io/ or https://interbit.io/ (and many other companies) we are also in a half-revolution. The blockchain qualities are exploited on a platform scale but globally by introducing ever more complexity ... In the same logic, it reminds me, the multitude of hypertext solutions before the Web sweeps the landscape on a global scale.
I have a diagnosis. The smart contract is not used correctly. The technology is excellent but used as object and basic brick, foundation of solutions developed on our existing models, leading to a stack of middleware that adds complexity without overhauling the architecture of the company's information system.
If the data has systemic properties why continue to implement complex logic at the application level?
Obviously, we can not escape the complexity but it seems reasonable to me to think that blockchain technology is not only the core of the next transformation of the WWW, but that in logic it should be thought and proposed on a model that allows it adoption on the same model. An essential question ...
