Yemi Penn investing in women

Yemi Penn is passionate about the power of investing in women. As a single mother who has grown her businesses to over $1 million and is now an author and international keynote speaker she truly understands the power of nurturing women’s hidden potential. Participating in The Women’s Business School’s Accelerator program in 2019 changed her life and now Yemi is paying it forward, by financially backing a scholarship place for a deserving candidate and providing the opportunity for them to invest in their business development and personal growth.
“I truly believe that once we are open to change we all undergo some form of awakening, usually triggered by a crisis of some sort. Well? This was part of my story and my desire to get out of my suffering was more than my desire to stay in victim mode. Having relocated to Sydney from London with my two kids 6 years ago it felt like I was failing miserably as I hadn’t followed this ‘memo’ everyone else appeared to have received. When i found myself on this non-fun merry go round I decided it was time to change my story, which meant taking risks and backing myself. It was scary as f**k but the best decision I ever made. As the world strives for equality, I truly believe that women are the most underutilized resource for changing the world. This is why I am passionate about seeing women rise, because I want to be part of a better, compassionate world.” Yemi explains.
Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner of The Women’s Business School first met Yemi in 2019 when she was a participant in their Accelerator program and were so impressed with her story and positive spirit.
“Yemi always has a unique way of looking at challenges and finding new solutions, she has a deep wisdom beyond her years and a beautiful energy. She is fearless and determined to change the world through her work.” Peace says.
“I want more women to realise the badass within them, because once they do, the possibilities of a kinder economy become real. The Women’s Business School Accelerator Program hands down has been one of the most transformational programs I have ever done, not just because of the content of the program but the community formed, it was and remains a breath of fresh air that has supported me and my businesses as my work is centred around making a profit through living my purpose.” Yemi explains.
“We’re passionate about supporting women like Yemi because we know that by providing the support, education and guidance for one person like her to be a part of this program she will then go on to help so many more women through her business and the impact will be magnified.
We believe investing in women is the key to changing the world and our aim is to change the world through working with women whose business or social enterprise has a positive impact on people’s lives, their local community, the environment, or the world in big and small ways.” Peace says.
The Women’s Business School recognised a need to support busy women to achieve their goals whilst managing their many other demands. The number of women searching for ‘work from home’ has risen by an estimated 300% since Covid-19. Of the 668,670 women operating a small business in Australia currently, a total of 47 per cent are mums with children at home.
“I am proud to give back because it is the best feeling in the world and while we adjust to the aftermath of COVID-19, I want to invest in another amazing woman to take an idea/business to greater heights through WBS.” Yemi says.
The Women’s Business School is providing a much needed resource for women with the online entrepreneur community growing at lightning speed as women search for better flexibility, financial freedom and family time.
“Women are a powerful resource and we are in times where we need equality and equity in the world, one way to do this is to support other women and pass this on. It takes a village to create change.” Yemi concludes.
