Yellow Top Voice badge is retiring. But here's how you can (still) use it

I know, I know.

This break has been longer than I ever imagined.

But better late, than never.

One of my most performing newsletters here was on the Top Voice Badge.

The yellow shiny little one!

Your support meant a lot because people who are not known to me here, reshared it to their network too.

Here's the link if you have missed it.

Most of us knew that the badges were on debate here, especially if someone deserves it or not.

  • I saw posts celebrating this as a 'prayer answered by LinkedIn team'.

  • I also noticed more collaborative answers being posted frequently since this announcement

While opinions about the badge may vary, my focus is on something more practical — how you can benefit from these changes.

Pro tip: It doesn't matter if you are a Top Voice owner/ex-owner/never owned one for using these tips

  1. Warehouse of ideas

Most of these collaborative ideas are AI-generated questions. A quick look through these might be helpful.

It is not necessary that you should pick a question there and write about it.

Finding inspiration is the key.

2. Your ideal prospect might be hiding there

This is my very recent finding and I wanted to share it with you as well.

While you are contributing articles for yourself or your client, there are high chances that some one in the same field or a field of your interest would have contributed there too.

A quick assessment of their profile will help you determine if they can be your future client.

The process is simple: Instead of you searching for them with keywords and what not, you go to a place where they have introduced themselves as an expert in that field. If you think you can help them out in some way, then there's no loss here. Right?

3. Do it for the enjoyment

Some questions are fun and I might not answer that question as a post any time in my account.

So I do it for the thrill of doing it.

No matter you have this yellow badge or not, your work will find the right audience if you put in the effort for it.

Let's work towards that instead. Right?

So, what's your take on this Yellow Top Voice Retirement? Did you feel that you made the most out of it?

Those collaborative articles are where I get some of my best ideas! It's hard to create in a vacuum. So why not use other peoples' ideas as a starting point. P.S. Thanks for keeping us updated Sruthi Venugopal P.P.S. Still waiting on those wedding pictures.
