The Yellow Car Effect

On long journeys as a child, we'd play the yellow car game.

Spot a yellow car and then punch the sibling next to you, before they spotted the car.

As you can imagine, as the youngest of 5 children, it could become quite a raucous car trip.

Whilst, I don't encourage violence, it taught me some quite vital lessons about life and marketing.

It's what I've dubbed 'the Yellow Car Effect'.

On that car journey, we become so fixated with finding yellow cars, that everything else around us fades into the background and becomes inconsequential.

Blue cars.

Red cars.

Grey lorries.

None of them matter, unless they are a yellow car.

We can apply the same logic to so many things in our lives and business.

One of my favourite quotes is on today's group header in The Family Network (West Surrey), from motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

"Where focus goes, energy flows and results show."

By applying our attention and focus to certain areas in our business, we start to put energy into improving it and in turn, we see results. Just like looking for yellow cars.. they appear everywhere!

So which areas might benefit from more focus?

When we introduce the Yellow Car Effect into our marketing, we realise that all of those other cars really don't matter.

They are just noise.

So by hunting for our ideal clients and speaking straight to them, we start to see the results of more profitable marketing.

But the Yellow Car Effect, is bigger than just marketing.

When we start to build achievable goals for our business and life, we become more in tune with looking for those opportunities.

Some call it the law of attraction, subconscious awareness or manifestation.

All of these come down to having a clear goal or desire and telling the universe about them.
