The biggest disaster on humanity
Affecting the entire globe and lives,
Be it rich or poor, children or adults
Akin to lying on a chopping board under knives.
Originated from the wet market of Wuhan
From where it spread like a catastrophe,
Threatening everyone's survival
Psychologically and financially.
India was put to one of the most stringent lockdowns
Yet it could not stop the spread,
As migrants travelled to their hometowns
With no money, no water or bread.
The second wave in India
Left the medics and system appalled,
Unemployment, poverty and hunger all around
While the economy stalled.
The smoke of the dead
Engulfs my country's sky,
Never has humanity been so helpless
While we hopelessly watched our brethren die.
Joblessness and stock markets are at an all time high
GDP is wrecked future insecure,
With little arsenal left for developing nations we pray and look for answers
When under acute shortage vaccine seems to be the only cure.
Human bodies floating around the rivers
As international media watches in dismay,
Some of us feel life has not changed
Was our social fabric always made of clay?
My hopes my dreams do not die
Even after seeing dark skies due to burning pyre,
I will live to see a clear sky
Humanity was raised to win we shall see through this fire.
