This Year’s Epiphany!

As I write this year's Ethiopian Epiphany celebration, I'd like to begin with a miracle story from the twentieth century (1940s). They claimed it was a miracle narrative that had took place during WWII. I heard it at a glance. If the chronicle of miracle is documented on the internet or in a book, I'd like friends to share it with me. But I would want to tell you this story, which I believe to be true.

Germany and Russia suffered a lot in World War II. It is said that 80 percent of the human and material casualties of the war took place on the eastern front. The German army occupied Russia and took control of the communist country then known as the Soviet Union. One of the reasons for Russia's demise at the time was its acceptance of the doctrines of Jewish intellectuals of Marxism-Leninism; she declared "there is no God" and founded a communist government. That's when Russia collapsed. Then God cast Nazi on her. She witnessed her suffering.

Eventually, the German army pushed forward and came close to capturing the capital, Moscow. What about Russia? The people were terrified. And the defense was terrified. Great Russia is about to fall to Germany. The Creator was about to hand her over to captivity. It worried her. What will you do, Russia? The leader at the time, Joseph Stalin, who claimed that God does not exist, lost his grip. God is not with him now. Whatever it is.

And Stalin was worried about what he could do to motivate the soldiers. And he consulted his advisers. A seemingly simple situation, but he was given excellent guidance. According to history, Russia has a wealth of wisdom and wise persons.

A counselor suggested;

"Let's work on the <faith> of the military and the people,"

"How!?" asked Stalin.

"Just listen to me and do what I tell you," replied the counselor.

It didn't take long for Stalin to come to terms with his advisor, given that he was in desperate need of his advice.

The adviser's advice seemed so simple, but it changed the history of Russia. His mentor advised Stalin to "Hold on the icon of Virgin Mary and surround the capital with prayer." The faithless Stalin was unable to take this advice on faith. In the end, he was forced to accept this advice when things got worse and the German army was about to surrender him in Moscow.

And days after Stalin consecrated the capital with a prayer to Saint Mary, the Russian army made historical victory against Germany. Finally, the German army was divided at the top and fell into the hands of two superpowers. An apparently simple piece of advice spared Russia from disaster. A miracle was done.

The Eastern Front was decisive in determining the outcome in the?European theatre of operations?in World War II, eventually serving as the main reason for the defeat of?Nazi Germany?and the Axis nations.

When we come to this year's the Ethiopian Epiphany festival, I am reminded of this Russian fable. Sanctifying a city with sacred vows, and in our country with holy arks, is not as simples as fools think. Because Satan knows this secret, he will take it away. He'll take it back. He puts many obstacles in the way of celebrating the occasion. But fools underestimate the significance of blessing the city with holy tabots.

And this year's Epiphany was celebrated with me in a different way. I suppose everyone who shares my sentiments might feel the same. According to my wish, I believe that this year the arks should have been hauled down to the baptismal sea and returned in a different mood and atmosphere with sadness and sorrow. Of course, since we have reached the age where it is said that you cannot cry for your country, it is impossible to achieve my wish in the current situation. I believed in my heart that we could get answers from the creator of life if it was my wish. I still don't give up. We had dressed dark from inside while celebrating this festivity today. Many people were not happy about what is going in our country today.

In the area I observed, people celebrated baptism with a cold emotion because of the bloody situations in the region where I live. There are numerous fighting here and there. Everyone appears depressed. Some of our churches were closed without celebrating baptism. When I thought of the churches my mother Merto Lemariam, her mother Gondar and others, I was saddened. I felt sad. Have we faced such a challenge in our history? Were we in danger of closing the ark of the throne on the day of Epiphany like this? I have no idea.

Our Bahr Dar Lideta Birahn Church also celebrated baptism in a spiritual atmosphere. I think the interaction between the priests and the laity is good. We earnestly beseech the Creator to mend our broken hearts and wounded spirits.

In any case, I believe that both the arks that were brought down to the baptismal sea and those closed are both bad in our country's affairs. I don't think they like hota and dancing this year. Although there are some people singing, I assume that they are hiding their displeasure inside and singing in honor of the festival. Finally, due to the creator's good will, the baptism festival concluded in peace in our area.

Tomorrow is the feast of Saint Michael the Archangel. The ark will spend the night in the baptistery before returning to the pulpit tomorrow. Saint Michael rescued the Israelites from slavery in Egypt; he is a magnificent angel who led the Israelites through the desert on a pillar of light and performed numerous miracles. Archangel St. Michael is a magnificent angel who fought Satan in heaven and gained a huge triumph by God's might.

We will also accompany our ark, which remained in the baptismal sea; we have set an appointment for tomorrow to return to the throne with the creator's permission, notifying him of our shattered hearts. May the angel use his wings to guard us from bad suffering; to keep our country from falling under Satan's power; and to help us with His strength in all earthly problems. We also believe in our country.

Creator, entrust our country's issues. Protect us from suffering. Keep us safe from all of the harm that you are aware of but we are not. If you help us, keep us safe from any evil. Hide the wrongdoers' guilt from their thoughts. Please reveal your plot to us first. Please remove all treats so that we can celebrate Epiphany with song and hota next year.

May Almighty bring a miracle to deliver us and our holy nation from the captivity of satan
