Year's end message
We are approaching 2023's finish. This is typically the time of year when we begin planning for the upcoming year and reflect on our accomplishments (or lack thereof). What have we discovered, though? This needs to be the primary question. Whatever the number of goals you achieved or failed to meet, what have you learned? About the world around you and about yourself.
Think about the lessons you've learned when you reflect on the last 12 months. Remember to be thankful that you are still here, that you made a small but meaningful difference in the last year, and that you might be able to make a bigger one in the next year. Remember that the "small" impact may have been huge to someone else. So be grateful that you were able to leave a mark on the world. Your world. Our world.
I am grateful. For the people I meet. For the people that teach me every single day what it is to be alive. For the people that show me that I matter, even when I am on my lowest of lows. And I do plan. I do set some goals. But I do it knowing that from the first second of 2024 on, anything can change. So I adapt. I change with the world around me. And I help it change. I learn, I teach, I share, and I thrive on knowing others thrive and succeed. All because my sole purpose on this planet is to leave a mark. No matter how small it may seem in the grand scheme of things, I matter. And the history of the world includes me.
These are not grandiose manias. They are not delusions that I am all-powerful and invincible or that I am better than the entire world. This entails being aware that the sum of all sand grains forms a beach. And that even while they can all be stomped upon and carried away by the sea, they can all also turn into a piece of crystal glass that gleams in the sunlight.
Thus, when planning ahead and establishing your own objectives for 2024, concentrate on having an impact. a significant one. something that fosters your own growth. Something you are able to pass on to other people. and fosters the growth of others.
In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for helping me grow every year while discovering something new every day.
