A year at Selfridges !

One whole of year working for Selfridges and what a year it has been. I feel beyond lucky to be able to say that I love my job and what I do! Being a sales associate for this company has company changed the direction of my career and also myself as a person. I have learnt so much about myself and luxury retail in such a short space of time. Getting to work amongst brands that I genuinely love myself and learning about them and the production of their products is truly a dream. I have loved fashion and dressing up for so many years since I was little girl and to call this my job is amazing to me. Selfridges Vision is 'to be the destination for the most extraordinary customer experience'. and they really do uphold this vision day in and day out. Customers experience is always at the forefront of the everyday experience in store for the customers and also back of house for their staff. This is reflected in their Values which are; to create the extraordinary, Embrace Every self and lead with purpose.

In my short time working for Selfridges I have learnt so much about the company and also the world of fashion retail. To start with is their Project earth and Selfridges aim to reinvent retail which puts sustainability and creativity at the heart of the business. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work on the Reselfridges section of accessories in the Trafford centre store where vintage and preloved designer items are sold, and for one of the first times to be able to display the most gorgeous Channel and Louis Vuitton bags.

I have also had to opportunity to take part in working closely with some of the charities that work closely with Selfridges. For me this looked like, spending the day with Oxfam at their logistics centre in Batley where we worked with the online and festival team to help around the warehouse and to learn about the impact of the fashion industry on the environment.

I am so grateful to work in the accessories department with the most supportive and friendly team who really do lift each other up and encourage each other to strive for excellence. I can't wait to see what the next year at Selfridges will hold for me and where I can take my career working for this amazing company.
