A year in review

For Markaaz, 2020 has been quite a ride, and we’ve come out in a great place.

Here’s a few thoughts about our journey, continue reading if this might be of interest. 

A scale-up as ours, has emerged, and taken over world-leading conversations about the small- and mid-sized business (SMB) agenda, and beyond. Be it as a Global Innovator at the World Economic Forum, or in dialogue with top-notch academia, Markaaz is uniquely placed to walk the talk. 

Behind Markaaz’s story stands a bold vision, to make the impossible possible. To address challenges that have been existing in the SMB market for decades, and that need resolution, now more than ever. More broadly, addressing friction and transforming spare capacity into net new equity is written in Markaaz’s DNA. 

With a bold vision, comes hard work. At Markaaz, we have been fortunate to find like-minded peers, individuals with great passion, skills and knowledge, and ones who are crazy enough to believe that together – as one team – we can change the world. Together we can!

So it is no surprise, that Markaaz on it’s journey to build the Community for SMBs and the Network for Partners has reached a few milestones this year that are worth sharing. In July 2020, Markaaz has been recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Global Innovator, which is a by invitation only Forum to drive the global agenda on innovation, and joined the UN Global Compact to raise awareness about sustainability amongst SMBs. 

Markaaz has also developed strategic Partnerships with Salesforce, BDO Alliance US, Equifax, AON, Giact and emerging players such as Plastiq, Paydock and Assurely. Each contributing uniquely in building the Community for SMBs, with its components such as the Directory (learn more here). 

Further, in line with the creation of the Markaaz Foundation, which will officially be announced in 2021, we have continued market research, worked closely with leaders including FUNDES to provide inclusive offerings for all small businesses, such as LatinX owned small businesses in the US. I’m particularly excited to share more with you about this one next year! 

All these efforts and milestones would not have been possible without the support of our families, friends, team and our board and CEO. It’s time to give our wholehearted thanks for making this year an unforgettable one, and one that sets us up for success in 2021. 

For us at Markaaz, 2021 is a year of releases. We are both excited and humbled to bring the first global Directory of SMBs into your pocket. A Directory with 300m small businesses where we make networking, verification and vetting easy and accessible - for everyone.
