A Year in Review at CRA
Lee Whitfield - BSc (Hons), GCFE, GIME, GASF, GREM
Experienced Digital Forensic Specialist | SANS Instructor
Almost exactly a year ago I left SANS and joined Charles River Associates (CRA). In part it was a difficult decision because I love SANS and enjoyed working there with some great people. But I also found the decision easy, because I'd been out of full-time involvement in the field of Digital Forensics for over five years. I was raring to get back into the field where my passions lie.
In the last year I've had the pleasure of working alongside some of the best in the field, both CRA employees and contractors. I've learned more than I could have imagined about myself and been stretched past what I thought was my breaking point, only to find that I could always reach that little bit further.
When I started at CRA, I was told of all of the wondrous things that awaited me. I'm a veteran of the field and, as such, I knew that companies often made promises that go unfulfilled and so I was skeptical, but not only have the promises all been realized but there's been much more.
The last year has flown by so quickly. Hopefully, this is the first of many. I love this work. Digital forensics and incident response are ever-changing fields and I'm glad to be a part of it and have the support of a good company behind me.
