Year in Review 2022

Year in Review 2022

As we wrap up this mixed bag of a year for Europe and the world, everyone at Games Factory Talents is looking back to the successes landed, the lessons learned, and bonds made or strengthened. For us, this is the year's biggest takeaway: there is a beautiful, growing community of great people in the games industry, and we are all strong together.

Recruitment - Powerhouse Team and Star Clients

Our wonderful recruiters have done some great work in 2022, landing new workplaces for 20 of our community members through direct recruitment for games studios. Our top clients for this year are Redhill Games with 6 hires, and Slipgate Ironworks with 5.

Games Job Fair - Trying Out New Things

This has been an intense, but exciting year for our events. Games Job Fair April 2022 broke the 2000 participant record and served as the first fair where we had multiple Art Challenges. Our Creative Portfolio Review sessions have been huge hits during both fairs this year as well.

Games Job Fair Autumn 2022 introduced our Unreal Engine Programming Challenge and its Code Review, adding another fruitful activity everyone has highly enjoyed. Our recurring Art Challenges did great as well. After a long and draining lockdown, October was also our return to onsite with a hybrid final day for the event, which we hope to feature in every event moving forward.

5 days online, 1 day onsite, 57 studios, 56 sessions, 87 speakers, 355 jobs, 873 meetings, 2000+ talents per event, talents from 95+ countries, about half juniors and half mid-seniors

Joining Hands

The war on Ukraine and the games industry layoffs have taken a toll on everyone, but we have also witnessed an industry taking action to help its game developers. Here at GFT we have taken part in related initiatives to help Ukrainian gamedevs, and in August organized our free-for-all Seriously Digital Networking Event for affected employees.

Forwards and Upwards

The Games Factory Talents team is looking to bigger and better things for 2023, moving forward with cautious optimism and solid planning. We will be hosting our Games Job Fair in April and October, as usual, so keep an eye out for updates. We will be taking it easy during the holidays, but make sure to join us on our Discord community, another fresh 2022 feature!

We want to thank all of our clients and talents, business and media partners, family and friends who have been with us this year. Let's make a wonderful 2023 together!
